Domaine Belargus, although a fairly new project (started in 2018), is one of the leading producers of Chenin Blanc in 'Anjou Noir'. It was developed out of the wine estate of Jo Pithon, one of the trailblazers of Anjou. Using Pithon's estate as the core, a Parisian businessman and big time wine enthusiast, Ivan Massonat, rejuvanated the estate and build Belargus.

Today, the estate is built around some of the most spectacular Chenin Blanc vineyard sites in the Loire. The filet and monopole is Les Treilles hillside, that was resurrected by Pithon over the years and is part of the natural reserve. Other vineyards are also of high pedigree: Savennières, Quarts de Chaume, Coteaux-du-Layon, Bonne Blanche, etc.  The domaine produces Chenin Blanc exclusively, with the vast majority vinified dry, even when coming from the Grand Cru of Quarts de Chaume, which is normally used for dessert wines. Of course, there are some dessert wines as well.
